To help launch the new Ambit GPS watch collection, the team at Suunto engaged Weld to come up with and launch a social media campaign to create awareness for the product while reaching a new audience. The outcome was the Suunto Ambitions campaign, which encouraged athletes of all kinds to share their ambitions with Suunto via the hashtag #suuntoambitions.
Fostering a Community
Weld developed the concept and created a custom social application for users to share their goals and triumphs with the brand community and win gear and prizes. The result was over 12,000 people interacting with the campaign and over 1,500 photo submissions from passionate outdoor athletes. In fact, the stories shared were so compelling that Suunto repurposed them as a permanent installation in its tradeshow booth.
Digital Media Campaign
To increase awareness, Weld managed a digital media campaign with a Facebook takeover and media placement on destinations most often visited by our target athletes. Weld produced all supporting collateral and managed the day-to-day execution of the campaign, including a major social ad spend. The result was a 10x increase in sales via social media over the previous period.
