When Protect Our Winters (POW) was launched in 2007, its goal was to call attention to the devastating effects of climate change. Today, POW has become the environmental center point of the global winter sports community’s efforts to reduce climate change’s impact on our sports and local economies. From developing and executing campaign concepts to creating an extensible brand framework, Weld knows this is serious business. As we continue to work with POW, our goal is always to elevate and amplify the emotional connections that unite the brand with its ravenous fanbase and the elite winter sports athletes who support it.

Web Refresh

As we’ve built a base of POW supporters, one thing that has become clear is that grassroots movements start with the mobile web. So taking POW to the next level has meant not only a more current look for its website, but also a mobile-responsive experience that works just as good browsing from a chairlift as it does from a desk. The new protectourwinters.org tells the POW story in a meaningful, compelling way built for the adventurer who is always on the go. Coming Fall 2015.

United We POW

Through our #UnitedWePOW campaign, Weld activated a global audience of winter sports enthusiasts around the POW mission. With Weld’s relationships and POW’s reputation, we brought in some of the biggest names in the industry to incentivize users to take the POW Pledge, share their winter stories and be entered to win gear packages from our partners.

Ultima Thule

Each year POW offers one of its donors an exclusive guided ski trip to Alaska’s famed Ultima Thule Lodge. To promote this incentive and encourage as many donations as possible, we developed a separate brand identity and microsite for the trip, implementing a classic adventure look to capture the excitement and wonder of the offer.

Chris Steinkamp, Executive Director

“Weld’s understanding of the technologies at play and their ability to organize and orchestrate the efforts of the supporting brands exceeded anything we’ve previous experienced with an agency partner.”

Friends of Friends

Our design team has worked closely with POW to develop microsites, branding and marketing collateral for several of POW’s programs, partners and friends. The design language we’ve developed for the brand has allowed for a consistent user experience and voice no matter the platform.
